The major objective of this study is to identify the employability status of graduates. It also analyses or update the demand of labour market, value given by employers for the skill test certificate awarded by CTEVT/NSTB, after the intervention of Nepal Vocational Qualifications System Project (NVQS-P).

This study further aims to find how far the certificates provided by NSTB are helpful in the perspectives of employment, in career progression/upgrading, self – employment, and fulfilling the industries and private sector needs as per the expectations of all corners.

Specifically, the tracer study aims to:

  • Find out the employability status of skill test graduates in terms of how far the certificate was helpful in creating jobs, nature of jobs (employment, self-employment, part time), time taken to get employment and upgrading in the existing jobs.
  • Find out the current employment situations. (Employment in same occupation that they were graduated or in different occupations, explore job position, salary range, and further interests of the skill test graduates.
  • Assess the usefulness of the skill certificates for employment. (Employers need, interest and value)
  • Explore the gaps in skills and competencies required by the labour market. (Gaps in demand by employers and supply from the TVET institutions in terms of skill standards or curriculum.
  • Find out the value created by skill certificate for the graduates in terms of career progression or further advanced level certificate need for upgrading in their workplace.
  • Find out the most demanding or marketable occupations for skill test and certification from the employer’s perspective.
