Project duration: May 1992 – October 1995.
The Project may be viewed as four separate but related parts in tow phases, with the common overall objective of introducing systematic and effective methodology to meet the challenges of roadway maintenance on Nepal’s main road system. At present the lengths of overall highway system performance.
Phase IA is directed towards developing the mythologies and design procedures to execute a periodic maintenance and rehabilitation program on a selected portion of main roads.
Phase IB requires an evaluation of the local contracting capacity to achieve an adequate level of maintenance.
Phase II A will pilot a program of maintenance work from design through to final completion of work contracts for 100 km from the main network. Phase IIB will guide local consultants through the same supervisory exercise over a lager, 200 km selection of main roads.
