Project duration : November 2019 – Ongoing

The  main  objective  of  the  consulting  services  is  to  carry  out  the household and community surveys on sample basis within the command area of MRJKIP (i.e., existing as well as extension command area) of the RJKIP to find out the tendency of changes basically on access to irrigation, level of agriculture productivity, socio‐economic status, willingness to participate in the agriculture extension activities and adaptation of new agriculture methods over a period of time interval due to ongoing project development activities. The major feature of the midline survey is to collect information on:

  • Economic characteristics of irrigated agriculture
  • General well‐being of targeted population including food consumption
  • Agricultural cropping patterns on all plots of the household
  • GPS location of the house and all the plots
  • Measure the agricultural knowledge of farmers in the study household experience of negative shocks, like floods
  • Socio‐institutional characteristics of farming community
  • Adaptation of improved agricultural methods and technologies

This Midline survey would include collection of information on improvement in irrigation access, improvement in agricultural production and productivity leading to enhancement in socio‐economic status of farming community. Furthermore, socio‐institutional improvement will be measured using indicators like participation in community organizations, trust towards institutions, self‐assessed well‐ being, and degree of optimism towards the future.

The objective of this survey is to be the baseline for Phase 2 of the RJKIP project and also serve as a midline survey for the impact evaluation, where the research team will measure changes in household’s knowledge of agricultural practices and cropping behavior.
