Project duration: October 1990 – May 1991.

The Study has attempted to provide assistance to the DDC Planning Office, Dhankuta District in order to prepare a sound integrated multi-sectoral planning commensurate to its resource base, resource potentials and the needs of the local people. Irrigation was one of the major components of the study that covered about 5,320 hectors of land managed by farmers with occasional government assistance. Out of the 86 irrigation schemes, 36 schemes were selected for detail assessment study. The objective of the assessment study were to survey (1) system leakage, (2) actual water use status, (3) Irrigation reliability, (4) Crop production, (5) System sustainability, and (6) Area expansion potential.
